News, reports from tournaments, interesting tidbits about the 12U Team.
It's no fun getting up at 5:30 in the morning and making it most of the way to Spokane and THEN finding out the games have been canceled because of rain. The 12U girls made the best of it and spent some of the morning fine-tuning their batting skills at practice...
Sunday brought less rain, and even a little bit of sun, but an even earlier morning with an 8:00 a.m. game against the hosts, the Spokane Cougars. It was a battle that ended with a close loss, 6-7. This loss put the 12U girls into the Silver Bracket and a 10:00 a.m. game against the Lakesiders.
Wildfire won game 2 against the Lakesiders (10-3)*, game 3 against Crush 99 (8-1)*, and then finally game 4 against the Great Falls Selects (9-4)* to earn 1st place in the Silver division.
Kudos to Betty C for finishing game 4 with a fat lip from a hit to the face with the ball. (She struck out the next batter).

The sun was shining (mostly), but the wind was blowing for the first tournament that the 12U Wildfire girls attended in the Tri-Cities the weekend of April 9/10.
On Saturday, the Wildfire girls beat the Spokane Scream (14-2) and Seattle Fastpitch Club (13-4), but went down to a well-oiled A-team Woodinville Reign Impact team (1-11). Sunday morning the girls lost to Ferndale (4-8), but then went on to win in their next two games against Team Faith/Leffner (10-7) and Team Rampage (13-4?) - (not official - last 3 games had not been documented upon this posting).
See all results (minus last 3 Sunday games, will update when we see the final).
It was a great weekend, topped off by a fun night at Round Table Pizza with the girls and their families. Thanks to Round Table to accommodating about 38 Wildfire folks plus about an equal number of Acers from the Auburn area all at once at about 6:30 :).
Best Memories:
